Admission Procedure
The application form for enrollment for the college should be secured from the Office of Admissions of the college or apply here online. The completed application should be returned as far in advance as possible of the actual enrollment date to allow for proper processing of the application.
Educational Requirements
Educational requirements are prescribed by statute as well as rules and regulations of the funeral service licensing board of the state in which a student desires to obtain licensure following graduation from Mid-America College of Funeral Service. It is essential that an applicant be familiar with these requirements before enrollment. Licensing criteria vary considerably from state to state so it is strongly recommended that the applicant contact the state licensing board or the Admissions Office to insure compliance in advance of graduation. The minimum requirement for admission in all cases is high school graduation or its equivalent.
Enrollment Requirements
Associate Degree Program and Certification Programs Enrollment Requirements
Admission to a Mid-America College of Funeral Service is contingent upon successful completion of all admissions requirements prior to the start of the quarter. These requirements are outlined below and include completion of the application, submitting all final transcripts and educational records, completion of documents, meeting minimum scores on entrance assessments, and completion of health-related requirements.
Applicants are considered for admission into the Associate and Certification programs when the following criteria are met:
- A completed application for the program desired
- A paid $50.00 non-refundable application fee
- Applicants must complete a set of enrollment documents through Docusign for the desired program;
- A high school transcript certifying graduation, or a GED certificate and scores sent directly to the college from the certifier
- Indiana Law requires a student to attend school until he graduates or turns 18 unless he/she is between age 16 and 18 and his/her parents and the school principal consent in writing to his withdrawal at an exit interview (Indiana Code, Sec. 20-8. 1-3-17)
- Official transcripts from all other educational institutions previously attended by the applicant should also be sent directly to the college from the certifier
- A recent photography for identification purposes
a. A driver’s license or state identification card is preferred - Successfully completed entrance assessments and earned the minimum score of 305 in the verbal section and 295 in the quantitative section
The college reserves the right to refuse admission to any applicant when it is in the best interest of the College, staff, faculty, students, and the funeral service profession.
Bachelor Degree Program Enrollment Requirements
To apply and be accepted by the College in a bachelor degree program at Mid-America College Funeral Service the following requirements must be met:
- A completed application for the program desired
- A paid $50.00 non-refundable application fee
- Official transcripts from all other educational institutions previously attended by the applicant should also be sent directly to the college from the certifier
- A recent photography for identification purposes.
a. A driver’s license or state identification card is preferred - Indiana Law requires a student to attend school until he graduates or turns 18 unless he/she is between age 16 and 18 and his/her parents and the school principal consent in writing to his withdrawal at an exit interview (Indiana Code, Sec. 20-8. 1-3-17)
- Specific to the Bachelor of Science in Funeral Service Management Program (BFSM)
a. Proof of graduation from an ABFSE Associate’s Program
b. Proof of passing both National Board Exams (NBE), and/or
c. Proof of licensure as a Funeral Director/Embalmer in your state of residence
Candidates may be accepted to the College with stipulations for their first quarter designed to aid in success. The college reserves the right to refuse admission to any applicant when it is in the best interest of the College, staff, faculty, students, and the funeral service profession.
As of July 1, 2022, Pierce Mortuary Colleges will no longer be accepting International Students.
