Joseph Fogarty joins Mid-America College of Funeral Service from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, though he is originally from rural Iowa. He holds both a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Science Degree in Public Safety from Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, Indiana. He is also a graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science and has maintained professional licensure as a funeral director and embalmer for nearly 30 years. Joe currently holds an active funeral director license in the state of Wisconsin.
His professional background in funeral service includes work with Piser Weinstein Menorah Chapels in Chicago, Illinois, followed by more than ten years with Service Corporation International (SCI) in Chicago. His responsibilities have included licensed practice as a funeral director and embalmer, central preparation operations, and leadership as a location manager. During his tenure with SCI, he also managed and launched a cremation start-up operation. After relocating to Wisconsin, he continued to serve in funeral service on a part-time basis while working full-time for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Joe’s VA career spanned several disciplines. He began at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago as a Police Officer and later a Criminal Investigator before transitioning into Human Resources. While in Milwaukee, he held HR roles in recruitment and placement and was later promoted to supervisor of a remote compensation team. Joe is a U.S. Army Veteran and a recent retiree from federal service.
He now resides in Clarksville, IN with his partner Wendy. His personal interests include walking, running, weightlifting, following the Iowa Hawkeyes, and supporting the WNBA.
