Hensley Kwabena Boateng, BSc, MS, CLS
Hensley Kwabena Boateng is a Clinical Laboratory Scientist with over nine years of laboratory experience in high-complexity clinical testing and science education. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana, and a Master of Science in Biology from Georgia State University, graduating with distinction. His academic focus centers on virology and immunology, with research exploring viral pathogenesis, host immune responses, and the relationship between viral infections and neurodegenerative disease.
His laboratory expertise spans molecular biology, hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, blood banking, histopathology and laboratory management. With a strong foundation in diagnostic testing and disease mechanisms, he integrates extensive clinical experience with biological science, enabling students to connect theoretical concepts to real-world professional practice.
Hensley is the recipient of the Steven Kudravi Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence at Georgia State University, recognizing his commitment to student learning, mentorship, and academic leadership. He is also the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Expert Medical and Diagnostic Services, an organization dedicated to advancing quality laboratory services and diagnostic excellence.
At Mid-America College of Funeral Services, he teaches Introduction to Microbiology and Microbiology for Funeral Service. He is committed to equipping students with a strong scientific foundation, emphasizing infection control, public health principles, and the microbiological knowledge essential for safe and ethical funeral service practice.
Outside of academics and professional work, Hensley enjoys playing pool, table tennis, and both playing and watching soccer, valuing teamwork, discipline, and balance in all aspects of life.
