Faculty Member

Yasamin Dye is a first-generation funeral director and embalmer. Born and raised in Southern California, she earned her AS in Mortuary Science in 2015 and BA in Funeral Service in 2018 from Cypress College in Cypress, California. She apprenticed at the prestigious Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California, and studied under the tutelage of the most esteemed funeral professionals in Greater Los Angeles, small-town Arizona, and Metropolitan Nashville over the course of her career.

Her inspiration to enter the funeral profession was sparked when she saw the “Mummies Made in Egypt” episode of Reading Rainbow as a child. She found herself drawn to the delicate balance of science, art, and care that defines the funeral profession. Her dedication led her to pursue advanced studies, gaining hands-on experience in funeral homes before transitioning into education. She quickly made her mark in the field, specializing in embalming techniques, restorative art, and grief counseling.

Yasi hails from a family of educators and is honored to finally achieve the title of “professor” as of 2024. She currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband, son, and cat named Dolly. Beyond the classroom, she enjoys singing on the weekends at a local tourist venue in the heart of Nashville, cooking traditional Persian food, listening to audiobooks, and learning about Old Hollywood history. She is a music enthusiast and enjoys a wide variety of artists and genres. An unforgettable moment in her career was meeting the Queen of Country herself, Dolly Parton, while directing a service!
