Evidence Technician

Join our team as an Evidence Technician at the Montana Department of Justice Forensic Science Division to contribute to the critical work of collecting, analyzing, and preserving evidence in support of investigations.

This position may be eligible for a $1.50 statutory increase on 7/1/2024.
Salary: $ 21.05 Hourly

The Evidence Technician is responsible for evidence management and is the primary person responsible for the security and integrity of evidence when it is received into the crime lab as well as while in their care, custody, or control.

Confidentiality and procedural practices are essential to success in this position.

This person may contribute to standard operating procedure updates; train law enforcement and/or division personnel in evidence packaging and submission standards; and may be required to testify in court.

The person in this position is integral to crime lab operations and may provide support services to specialized Forensic Science Division sections.

This position is within the toxicology section and the successful applicant will be required to work with potentially biohazardous materials (blood, urine, tissue, etc.)

This position is ongoing and will remain open until all positions are filled.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma
Two years of job-related work experience to include word processing, proficiency entering data into databases or excel spreadsheets; MS Office™ proficiency
Other combinations of experience and an education equivalence may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:

Law enforcement and / or evidence handling experience
