NC-SARA – Distance Learning
Mid-America College of Funeral Service must comply with state regulations prior to any educational activity that will occur within that state. These regulations determine whether Mid-America may offer you enrollment in our program(s). The educational activities regulated include offering 100% online courses and programs.
Mid-America College participates in the National Council of State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC – SARA). Being an approved NC-SARA college allows students from approved states to enroll into:
- Online programs
- Online courses
States that are approved members of NC-SARA are indicated below and can be reviewed on the NC-SARA Directory site: https://www.nc-sara.org/directory.
Online Program(s) and Courses
Mid-America College online program(s) and courses are available to students in approved NC-SARA states.
Please note that California does not participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). Consequently, the California Higher Education Committee does not officially recognize an online educational program from an institution outside of California without prior approval. Mid-America College of Funeral Service does not hold such approval, nor is it required. However, many California students have earned our accredited Associate of Applied Science degree and have successfully become licensed funeral service practitioners in California.
For embalmer licensure, the California Cemetery and Funeral Bureau requires graduation from a mortuary college accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE).
Mid-America College of Funeral Service and the Funeral Service associate degree program offered by Mid-America College are accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE), 992 Mantua Pike, Suite 108, Woodbury Heights, NJ 08097 (816) 233-3747. Web: www.abfse.org.
